Exhibitions
Each year, the Evanston Art Center presents 6 – 8 exhibitions in its galleries at 2603 Sheridan Road. These include curated group shows, occasional retrospectives, regular student and faculty exhibitions, and a biennial juried vicinity show. Additionally, the Center's EAC On Tour program brings exhibitions of faculty and student work to off-site locations throughout the community.

The goal of the exhibitions program is to present artwork of regional and national significance, with a special emphasis on new work by Midwestern artists, in particular artists from the greater Chicago area. Themed group shows explore aesthetic issues as well as topics of contemporary social import. Submissions are reviewed on a quarterly basis.

Contact*Connect*Collaborate explores the nature of international artist collaborations in a world made permeable by modern communications, technology and travel. Artists from around the world are connecting with their American counterparts in order to examine political, philosophical, sociological and historical issues from both particular and global perspectives. The formats of these artist collaborations vary widely, encompassing video, mixed media installations, performance, prints and textile works. The resulting projects point up the possibilities of creative collaboration without negating the real differences in cultures and situations and express the artists’ deep desire to make human connections in a complex world.
