Each year, the Evanston Art Center presents 6 – 8 exhibitions in its galleries at 2603 Sheridan Road.
These include curated group shows, occasional retrospectives, regular student and faculty exhibitions,
and a biennial juried vicinity show. Additionally, the Center's EAC On Tour program brings exhibitions of faculty and
student work to off-site locations throughout the community.
The goal of the exhibitions program is to present artwork of regional and national significance, with a special
emphasis on new work by Midwestern artists, in particular artists from the greater Chicago area. Themed group shows
explore aesthetic issues as well as topics of contemporary social import. Submissions are reviewed on a quarterly basis.

 | Grosse Point ConfluenceSculpture on the Grounds July 2010 - May 2011
Artists: Arny Nadler
Intrigued by the tools of the built environment, large scale sculptor Arny Nadler utilizes bundles of rebar to construct a site-specific piece that will sprawl across the landscape and penetrate the earth like a three-dimensional drawing. Inspired to work with rebar as a material normally relegated to a hidden substructure, this installation presents the material out of its usual context in a setting contrasting its intended use. Viewers are encouraged to walk the sculptures meandering path, observing its twists, curves, and voids as it interacts with the front lawn of the Evanston Art Center.
Funding for "Grosse Point Confluence" is provided by Illinois Arts Council, a state agency, and the Elizabeth F. Cheney Foundation |

 | Youth Fine Arts Student Biennial ExhibitionMyths and Legends from Around the World August 29 - September 12
Artists: 2010 Youth Fine Arts Summer Camp Students
The EAC was abuzz with the sound of hundreds of happy campers thanks to the return of the Youth Fine Arts summer camp. The camp culminated in the always delightful YFA biennial exhibition, curated this year by Donna Lurie-Semmerling. This edition's theme is "Myths and Legends from Around the World" and explorations of the theme feature collaborative projects ranging from storybooks to life-size creations. Work from the five Summer and Specialty Art Camps and the High School Intensives, Multi-Level Ceramics, and Exploring Digital Video and Photography classes are also on display. The exhibition also includes images from Generation F Stop, a collaboration between the EAC and Family Focus, a non-profit social organization that helps provide support programs to low income families. |
