ALEX ULICHNY
April 8 – 20, 2018
Wisconsin-born designer Alex Ulichny weaves stories into his conceptual garments and collections, based on his extensive research into forgotten techniques, meticulous craftsmanship and innovative materials. His avant-garde approach to clothing began while a student in the Fashion Department of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where he won the Eunice W Johnson Fellowship and traveled to Antwerp, Amsterdam and Paris to intern in the couture ateliers of Iris van Herpen and Viktor & Rolf. Shortly after establishing his LA-based artisanal womenswear line in 2013, his designs were featured in international publications such as Elle Korea, The Financial Times and Vogue Ukraine. Today, he collaborates with conceptual artists, designers and performers drawn to his avant-garde approach to construction and craftsmanship.
