New Intern at the Art Center

Zhanyi, one of our EAC Interns, writes about Michael Litewski's Artwork 3 Ships, displayed in our Second Floor Atruim Gallery from July 6 - June 28, 2024:

As a new intern at the Evanston Art Center, I’ve been given the incredible opportunity to immerse myself in a world of creativity and inspiration. Walking through the gallery halls, each piece of art tells a unique story, and one of the most compelling pieces I’ve encountered is Michael Litewskil’s “3 Ships.”

The moment I laid eyes on “3 Ships”, I was struck by its intricate design, the vibrant use of materials, and the depth of emotion it conveys. Litewski’s work is a brilliant example of how art can transcend traditional mediums and engage viewers on multiple sensory levels. It creates a dynamic and visually stimulating experience. The piece features a combination of geometric shapes and mechanical elements.

Litewski’s “3 Ships” stands out not just for its aesthetic appeal but also for its conceptual depth. The three ships, meticulously constructed and presented, symbolize a journey - one that is both personal and universal. The use of varied textures and materials adds to the tactile experience and invites viewers to explore the piece from different angles and perspectives.

What fascinates me most about this artwork is the blend of engineering and artistry. Litewski has managed to infuse his background in mechanical design into his art and created pieces that are both visually striking and thought provoking. The precision and attention to detail reflect a deep understanding of both the technical and artistic realms.

As an intern, my time at the Evanston Art Center has been a whirlwind of learning and discovery. Each day presents an opportunity to dive deeper into the world of contemporary art and to appreciate the diverse range of expressions it encompasses. Michael Litewski’s “3 Ships” is a testament to the power of creativity and innovation, and it serves as a source of inspiration for my journey ahead.
