Now and Then | David Lozano

On View August 16- September 14, 2025

"My practice blends American pop art and influences from modernist abstraction with cultural
references and personal memories to create a form where craft and cultural hierarchy exist in
the same field. With its mixed media, the wall pieces interrupt perceptions of value and
cultural aesthetics. Emotions and experiences become embedded in the reconstruction and
altering of familiar forms such as papel picado (cut paper) banners, Milagros (votive), or say
boxing equipment that creates a flamboyant expression or “sign” that confound tropes on
ethnicity, queerness, desire, and masculinity."
