Once again the front lawn of the Evanston Art Center has come alive with intriguing and beautiful site-specific works by local artists. Each artist was asked to reference the history, geography or architecture of this special place through concept or material.
The accepted artists, Janet Austin, Bob Fields, Gina Grillo, Suzanne Horwitz, Margot McMahon and Victor Nelson met this criteria in a variety of ways, such as Grillo's reference to the 1883 shipwreck of the Wells Burt off the coast of the Art Center beach, or McMahan's recognition of the importance of the birds along the western Lake Michigan flyway.
