Variations is a Studio Exhibition featuring work by the students of Eleanor Spiess-Ferris. From Head to Toe: Contemporary Portrait Making & Figure Study taught by Eleanor Spiess-Ferris is a contemporary look at drawing and/or painting the portrait and/or the figure through the examination of 20th and 21st century artists from Picasso to Eric Fischl and artists like Chuck Close. Students are encouraged to explore and develop different directions in their art making. Using oil and acrylic paints or drawing materials, the live models provide practice for direct observation to begin an abstraction or to include in another painting/environment. The instruction is focused on individual goals with some in-class demonstrations and discussions.
The ongoing Studio Exhibition series highlights the variety of exceptional artwork made in our EAC classrooms by featuring student work in our galleries. Each Studio Exhibition is coordinated by the instructor, who curates contemporary and thought provoking exhibitions of their studentsÔÇÖ artwork.
