EVANSTON ART CENTER ANNOUNCES ARTISTS TO EXHIBIT IN THE 22nd EVANSTON + VICINITY BIENNIAL OPENING JUNE 8th WITH ARTISTS RECEPTION FROM 1PM to 4PM

Juried by Allison Peters Quinn and Sergio Gomez the 22nd Evanston + Vicinity Biennial on view from June 8th through July 20th will feature the work of thirty-five Illinois artists.

The Evanston Art Center is proud to present the 22nd Evanston + Vicinity Biennial, one of the Midwest’s largest and most prestigious juried exhibitions.  From a talented pool of over 500 Illinois artists, Biennial jurors, Allison Peters Quinn, Director of Exhibitions at the Hyde Park Art Center, and Sergio Gomez, Owner/Director of 33 Contemporary Gallery and Curator/Director of Exhibitions at the Zhou B. Art Center, have selected a talented group of thirty-five artists. On Sunday, June 8 from 1:00- 4:00 pm there will be an artists’ reception at the EAC, which is free and open to the public.

Juror Allison Peters Quinn is the Director of Exhibitions at the Hyde Park Art Center, where she has curated notable exhibitions for both emerging and established artists since 2004. She has also taught graduate seminars at the School of the Art institute of Chicago and the University of Chicago Graham School. A winner of the Ramapo college Curatorial prize, Peters Quinn has served as a juror for the Artadia Award, Efroymson Award, Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition Fellowship Awards, Community Arts Assistance Grant Program and the Ragdale Foundation. Peters Quinn received a BA from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and an MA from the Center of Curatorial Studies, Bard College.

Juror Sergio Gomez is the Owner and Director of 33 Contemporary Gallery, Curator and Director of Exhibitions at the Zhou B. Art Center, Founder and Director of VisualArtToday.com, Co-Founder of 3C Wear LLC., Curator of the National Wet Paint Exhibition and Chicago’s Twelve, and a contributor to Italia Arte Magazine. An established Chicago artist himself, Gomez’s work has been featured across the United States as well as in Italy, Austria, Spain, Sweden and Mexico. Today his work can be found in several collections, including those of the National Museum of Mexican Art, the Brauer Museum of Art and Benedictine University. Gomez is a faculty member at South Suburban College and earned his MFA from Northern Illinois University.
