EVANSTON ART CENTER 2015 OPEN HOUSE
There are some exciting changes taking place at the Evanston Art Center (EAC). You can find out about some of these details on Sunday, April 12 from 1-4pm at EAC’s Open House. This event, which is free and open to the public, will take place at our current location: 2603 Sheridan Road. The event offers something for everyone. Attendees will learn about the expanded arts programming offered at our new location beginning June 8th; they can also participate in family workshops, watch artist demonstrations and enjoy light refreshments.
The Open House aims to generate greater visibility of the classes offered, both at present and in the future. Student and faculty demonstrations will expose the variety of classes currently offered, which range from ceramics to jewelry and metal-smithing. Six of EAC’s faculty will be demonstrating techniques and drop-in activities along with student works. Artist and Faculty include Cheryl Steiger, Sarah Kaiser, Nancy Sickbert-Wheeler and Sandra, Didier Nolet and Mairin Hartt.
Furthermore, tours led by Paula Danoff, EAC’s Interim Executive Director, and Keith Brown, EAC’s Director of Education, will bring awareness to and generate dialogue about the new classes offered at EAC upon its move later this spring. Renovated digital media programs, new exhibition space, a dark room and a culinary component are just a few of EAC’s programming changes. These enhancements will ideally lead to more and new types of art making that are also experimental.
The Open House will be one of our last big events at our current location. That said, Sunday’s event is not only an opportunity to see this beautiful building, but also to enjoy the final exhibitions held in this space. Come see the Evanston Biennial Solo Shows, featuring artwork by Noelle Allen, Robert Porazinski and Jennifer Yorke. And don’t forget to visit EAC concluding event, Sculpture on the Lawn, with sculptural contributions by artists, Jeremiah Hulsebos-Spofford, Margot McMahon and Victor Nelson.
EAC has a lot of great news to share, and Sunday is an opportunity to learn about it. Whether you are new to EAC or have taken many classes here, we encourage people of all ages to stop by our current home to see our art contributions and discover the many possibilities the Evanston Art Center has to offer.
The Evanston Art Center’s Open House, which is free and open to the public, will take place on April 12, 1-4pm at 2603 Sheridan Road.
The Evanston Art Center was provided further assistance by counsel Coree Smith at Kirkland & Ellis, lender First Bank & Trust and Design-Build contractor The Dobbins Group. Evanston Art Center Trustees, staff and many generous capital campaign contributors have made this transformative move and building renovation possible; this level of commitment reaffirms the importance of the arts and the Evanston Art Center to the wellbeing of individuals, communities and creative economies.
