Six-week class beginning January 9, 2025 (This class meets every other week)
Course Description:
Join us for a comprehensive study into a topic or subject from the expansive history of cinema. With each topic we will look at several examples, charting how the filmmakers’ histories and the overall cultural context reflect on the forms, styles and techniques. This Fall our topic is “The Art of Craft: A History of World Animation”. We will look specifically at hand-crafted animation, either drawn or sculpted, from filmmakers all over the world. We will explore a variety of styles and approaches from a diversity of artist; from underground subversive Soviet Union stop motion, to Japanese folklore anime.
