Course Description:

A fun twist on a traditional color theory class, you will be exposed to a plethora of fundamental color studies, but with an emphasis on using color strategies to evoke a particular mood. You will start with simple color exercises that get progressively more ambitious, before transitioning to studying the exercises of the famous colorist Josef Albers, and finish by completing 2 small paintings using the skills you have acquired over the course of the term. Painting exercises will be supplemented with demonstrations, robust discussions, and slide presentations, exposing you to new artists and techniques for inspiration. Whether you are an experienced artist seeking out a color-intensive, completely new to visual art, or somewhere in between, this course is for anyone interested in discovering the power of color.
