Course Description:

In this introductory class students will explore the use of photopolymer plates, used in the commercial print industry, as a tool for expressive printmaking in the fine art print studio. Class instruction includes the use of photopolymer plates in the creation of relief and Intaglio prints. Students will work in a hands on workshop setting mixed with lecture and directed instruction to create their own  prints. Topics covered will include: tools and materials, image preparation, Exposing and developing the plates, Inking, wiping and printing images. Both analog and digital methods of image creation will be covered, as was as special techniques like embossing and printing multi-color images.
