Expressive Color
Composition and Gesture in the Italian Landscape
with Nina Weiss and La Romita School of Art, Umbria, Italy
Immerse yourself in the study of the classically beautiful Italian landscape with nationally recognized artist and teacher Nina Weiss.
Designed for artists and art lovers at all artistic levels, this workshop will allow students working in various mediums an intensive exploration of the romantic Italian landscapes of Umbria. Working en plein-air, students will learn to extract their visions from these rich landscapes through sketches, drawing, painting, and photographic reference, putting together high-impact paintings using color theory and composition.
The workshop will be held at La Romita School of Art in Umbria, Italy.
For 50 years, La Romita has hosted art workshops in the scenic hill country of Italy. Called “The Green Heart of Italy”, Umbria is home to sweeping vistas, dramatic hill towns, and a light that captures the artist’s eye. The school’s guests are housed at La Romita, a restored 16th Century monastery, fed a range of traditional and seasonal dishes by staff cooks, and transported by private bus to the painting destinations of the workshop.
