Welcome to the Ceramics Department!

EAC Ceramics will immerse you in high-fired (cone 10) ceramics as you develop a solid understanding of wheel-throwing, handbuilding, and glazing techniques.

Ceramics classes include a variety of techniques to suit your needs, whether you are a rank beginner or a veteran ceramicist. Topics include a wide range of handbuilding and wheel-throwing, glazing, and hybrid classes. One 25 pound bag of clay is included in the tuition price, as well as access to the studio outside of class for Open Studio.

Our faculty members come from a variety of backgrounds, from local teachers to professional potters and artists - and all places in between. Our team of expert teachers will not only give you the basics on how to get started, but will also provide the skills to become a proficient ceramicist constantly expanding and building on your skills.

Our equipment is ideal for the budding or experienced potter, including 12 Brent wheels, 1 adaptive wheel designed for people with disabilities (Brent #16), 1 Lockerbie motor kick-wheel, 3 hand-building tables, slab roller, extruder, a glazing area with over 20 glazes, 4 Skutt electric kilns of various sizes, and a Bailey gas reduction kiln.

Our faculty is a team of supportive teachers, dedicated students, and supporters. The smaller, more intimate studio provides a more personal sense of community and camaraderie with fellow ceramicists both new and experienced.
