Welcome to the Printmaking Department!
Our studio offers instruction for everyone from kids to adults of all ages, for beginners and advanced printmakers alike. Learn a variety of print- and paper-based techniques from our experienced faculty.
We offer classes and workshops in Intaglio, Relief, Screen Printing, Bookbinding and Papermaking. Along with instructor-led classes we offer Independent Study to printmakers who want to work independently.
Our faculty members are all artist printmakers with a broad range of skills and many years of teaching experience. In addition to teaching, they exhibit their work locally, nationally, and internationally.
Our equipment includes two presses for students to use, one large Takach press for intaglio and relief printing and a vintage Kimber and Hughes press for intaglio. We have many screens available for paper and textile screen printing, a darkroom and exposure unit for screen printing and photopolymer intaglio. For etching copper plates we use ferric chloride solution.
Our printmakers are part of a larger arts community at the Evanston Art Center, working alongside other visual arts disciplines.
