On Sunday, April 18, 2021 at 2pm, join us for a virtual lecture about Exploring Contemporary Ceramics: Shifting Tastes and New Expressions featuring Cindi Strauss.
This lecture is a part of the ongoing EAC series, "In Focus." "In Focus" features a variety of talks and presentations by artists, art professionals, historians and more!
Over the past 10 years, ceramics as a field has undergone a renaissance with artist's flocking to the medium. The "new" ceramics are rich with references to historical art and they also explore sculptural forms based on nature and figuration. Ornamental or functional, the objects bring delight in their artists' handling of material and glaze. Cindi Strauss will introduce recent innovations in ceramics, highlighting artists who focus specifically on clay as well as those who use it as part of a multidisciplinary practice.
