Barbara Curtis began her artistic life in a Danville Illinois nursery school when she decided to paint better and more than anyone else in the classroom. Barbara received an Associate in Arts degree at Bennett College, Millbrook New York, BA and BFA University of New Mexico at Albuquerque.in the mid seventies. Always striving to produce and develop artistically she recently achieved a Masters in Art 2021, had a solo show at the Springer Cultural Center last year and has two more prospective shows ; one at the Quad City Art Center and another at the Evanston Art Center. She has traveled, extensively, shown and lived in beautiful regions of the country and abroad. Ways to represent landscapes, still life, and figurative work seem to be an endless preoccupation. The last several years find her painting figures involved or immersed in water searching for independence. Paul Cezanne, Mary Cassatt, Joan Brown and Gordon Cook are major artistic influences. The Cinema Gallery represents her work, Urbana Illinois.
