The Collegiate Paper Art Triennial is a competitive exhibition that features a variety of contemporary art forms made with handmade paper, such as sculpture, printmaking, painting, pulp paintings, artist's books, and installations. The Triennial was co-founded in 1999 by Lynn Sures of the Corcoran College of Art + Design in Washington, DC, and Cindy Bowden of the Robert C. Williams Museum of Papermaking in Atlanta, GA. It highlights artwork created with handmade paper by undergraduate and graduate students from across North America and aims to provide students with an opportunity to express their creativity, expand their networks, and advance their careers. The 8th Collegiate Paper Art Triennial, taking place between 2022-2024, was juried by prominent paper artists and writers: including Mina Takahashi, Editor of Hand Papermaking Magazine; Karen Kunc, Professor Emeritus, University of Nebraska-Lincoln; and Erin Zona, Artistic Director, Women's Studio Workshop. It features 40 works by 36 students from 12 schools selected from a total of 138 submissions from 83 students at 17 schools.
North American Hand Papermakers is an institutional affiliate of the Collegiate Paper Art Triennial. It is a non-profit t organization that brings together people interested in hand papermaking to encourage sharing of practical, historical, and artistic knowledge about the craft. Founded in 1981 as Friends of the Dard Hunter Paper Museum to preserve the books, papers, and artifacts collected by Hunter, the organization has grown to support further scholarship and encourage creative exploration by members of the papermaking community through its publications, exhibitions and annual meetings.

This exhibition will be held in the Second Floor Hallway Galleries of the Evanston Art Center (EAC). Masks are optional but strongly recommended for students, visitors and staff.
