Stacia is a printmaker with a focus on screen printing. Lately, she has been working on a series of prints collaged from her own snapshots and sketches along with photographs from her grandmother’s days as vaudeville acrobat. Her work has been exhibited locally and her more literary artwork can be found at Secret World Books in Highland Park.
Education:
- University of California, San Diego — BA History
- University of California, Los Angeles, Certificate in College Counseling
Other interests and inspirations:
Equal parts printmaker and writer, Stacia is currently working on a collection of personal essays and revising a middle grade novel about a child that befriends a cormorant after sudden floods require them both to reimagine their lives.
Stacia's teaching style:
A former high school English teacher, Stacia is pretty convinced that her most effective teaching comes when she’s most like a student—staying curious, mixing in courage, asking questions, and listening carefully. Her screen printing students will find in the studio what she found there herself: a safe space to learn techniques, get a little messy, learn the tools, try ideas, and make artwork meaningful to them.
Stacia loves EAC because . . .
The print studio is a haven, flooded with light and a community of printmakers of various specializations. There’s nothing like working quietly in camaraderie, taking a break to share a story or a recipe or get a little feedback.
