Course Description:

This is a multi-level course for beginning printmakers and experienced students to explore the tradition of Intaglio printmaking. Beginning students will receive a shop orientation and will be guided through plate and image preparation the first week. They will be taught the fundamentals of line etching, aquatint, and soft-ground techniques and will be supervised as they print and evaluate their results. Critiques with the instructor and classmates will encourage constructive solutions to technical and aesthetic challenges. Returning students or those with prior experience will develop a plan for the work they wish to pursue. Each student will be challenged to grow as an artist/printmaker in this supportive environment.

Skill Level: Intermediate/Advanced (Some drawing experience is helpful. This course can accommodate both advanced and beginning level printmaking students)
